Food: Besan Laddu

I feel like in the last week I have eaten my body weight in chocolate! I regret nothing. Christmas time is the the time for a lot of sweet treats. Today I want to show you a more unusual recipe. It´s from India and made out of cickenpea-flour, some spices and a lot of honey. I know it doesn´t sound delicious, but trust me it tastes AMAZING! These little bites are glutenfree and would make a really awesome gift as well!


You will need:

  • 100g of cickpea flour
  • 100g of butter
  • 1 tbl of peeled almonds or nuts of your choice
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp on lemon peel
  • 1/2 tbl of cacao
  • 85g of honey


First cut your almonds in small pieces and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Melt the butter in a frying pan on low heat. Then add in the chickpea flour and stir. Roast the mixture for about fifteen minutes on medium heat until you can smell a nuttily scent. Make sure to stir it enough so it doesn´t burn! Then add in the nuts and roast it for another five minutes. Next add in the cinnamon, lemon peel and the cacao. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down until it has about 40 degrees Celsius before you stir in the honey. Spread the mixture on the baking tray and let it cool completely. Now you can cut it into squares or any other shape you like. Enjoy with some mulled wine or tea!
