On My Mind: Style Resolutions

Happy new year! I´m sure some of you made a list with new year´s resolutions that you want to follow this year. Maybe you want to reach an important step in your career, want to work out more, or eat more healthy. Today I want to talk about a topic some of you may not have on their resolutions list: Style.

I´m totally aware that this is not necessary for a healthy and balanced lifestyle, but it can give you a real confident boost to feel like yourself in the clothes you are wearing. Therefor this confidence can help you reach some of your other goals. When I have a appointment I feel nervous about I pay more attention  to what I`m wearing than I usually would. The right outfit always helps me feel good about myself and capable of doing things I´m scared of.

Of course my style resolutions are different from the ones that are right for you, but I prepared some questions that can help you figure out your personal style resolutions. So here we go:

  • Which colours do you want to add to your wardrobe? ( check out this post for some suggestions )
  • What is a typical outfit for you? What do you like about it? What needs to change?
  • What is missing in your wardrobe? ( e.g. high quality pieces instead of cheap an poorly made ones, items you are seriously lacking like a pair of good fitting jeans..)
  • What fabrics do you want to add to your wardrobe? ( e.g. velvet, leather, wool, denim, silk..)
  • What is lacking diversity in your wardrobe? (think of cuts, fabrics, colours..)
  • What shopping habit do you want to change? ( e.g. shop for quality not quantity, shop at responsible brands…)

Here are my style resolutions for 2017:

  • add some pink and camel to my colour palette
  • wear less jeans ( my go to outfit is skinny jeans with oversized knit jumpers )
  • add a good pair of black boots to my shoe collection
  • add more velvet items to my wardrobe
  • buy more feminine cuts and items with pattern
  • only buy items I truly love ( I want to avoid spontaneous buys that I end up not wearing enough )
  • buy more responsible made items

I would love to know what your style resolutions for the new year are! Let me know in the comments…

I wish you the best day ever!
